Water Quality Information
Southgate Water District distributes drinking water provided by Denver Water. This means Denver Water collects, treats, tests, and delivers quality drinking water to both its direct customers and to indirect customers who are served by "Read-and-Bill" distributors such as Southgate.
You can get more information about the quality of Denver Water's drinking water, as well as download the annual EPA-mandated water quality reports (also called the "consumer confidence reports"), from Denver Water's Website. As their website notes: "All drinking water, including bottled water, may reasonably be expected to contain at least small amounts of some contaminants. The presence of contaminants does not necessarily indicate that the water poses a health risk." If you have a specific quality concern, please call us here at Southgate at 303-779-0261.
Southgate also assures your water quality through actively managing the distribution system that brings your drinking water to you. We use a sophisticated, computer-driven Geographic Information System and Maintenance Management System that gives us the location, age, and condition of every pipe in our system. Managing our system this way allows us to plan cost-effective maintenance and upgrades on a schedule that helps us protect your family and your property.
One maintenance activity you will often see us doing in the District is flushing water mains. We do this to help maintain water quality, and taste, in pipes where water might not circulate or be consumed enough to maintain freshness. While it may look like we are wasting water, we are really maintaining your water quality, which is never a waste.
